The Stewartry's Prayer Chain
The Stewartry's Chain of Prayers exists as a ministry of love and care within
the parish: to lift up before God the prayers of our congregation for themselves,
the people they care about and sometimes for pressing local, national or global concerns.
There are currently twenty people on the Stewartry's Prayer Chain,
people who pray every day for specific requests for individuals needing God's healing,
comfort and strength.
The Prayer Chain is confidential. People who request prayer can contact a member of the Ministry team
or the Prayer Secretary. Their request will be passed down the chain and members of the chain are
encouraged to simply listen to the wording of the request but not to discuss. We take the responsibility
to maintain confidentiality very seriously and requests are not passed on outwith the chain.
Prayer requests are received and passed down the chain as quickly as possible (usually the same or next
day). Prayers stay on the chain until the next monthly update which is usually the first Sunday
of each month. In most cases the regular monthly update ensures that prayer is specific and relevant and
that the chain is informed when an individual request can come OFF the chain. In rare cases where there is no further update information then prayers
come off the chain after three months.
The people who pray take their responsibilities seriously and try to set aside time each day to perform this act of service. Once or twice a year a Prayer Chain retreat takes place when members of the chain meet to share experience of prayer and receive support and guidance from a prayer facilitator. Feedback from these retreats suggests this is a vital part of the Prayer Chain ministry in providing time for reflection and renewal and learning.
If you live in The Stewartry and would like to join the Chain of Prayers please contact the Prayer Secretary,
Mrs. Pamela Bain or a member of the Ministry Team - please see the contact information below.
If you would like prayer for someone please use the same contact information.
In addition to the prayer chain activity a short time of prayer is set aside each month to seek God's Will for the future of our parish. These prayer times occur on a Sunday evening in one of the four Stewartry churches. The next time of Prayers for the Stewartry will be posted on church noticeboards, in the Sunday worship Service Sheet, or you can contact the Prayer Secretary via the church office.
